What if you’re an eagle being asked to live like a duck?
Have you ever felt like something must be wrong with you because you can’t keep up the way other people seem to?
I want to share a story with you about a school for animals.
In this school, every animal had to learn the same things: running, climbing, flying, and swimming.
The duck was great at swimming but struggled with running.The eagle could soar and climb better than anyone but got in trouble for doing it his own way.The squirrel was amazing at climbing but was forced to learn flying from the ground up.
By the end of the year, the one who did a little bit of everything — but nothing especially well — was the one who succeeded.
Sound familiar? Sometimes the problem isn’t us. Sometimes we’ve simply been trying to succeed in a system that was never designed for how we think, how we work, or how we learn.
Einstein is credited to saying: “If we judge a fish by how he climbs a tree, he’ll live his entire life believing he is stupid.”
When we finally start working with who we really are instead of against it… everything begins to change.
